This is our second official furlough weekend*. I had hoped to return to Kings Canyon and visit the fabled Cedar Grove, but Guy had other plans. Since we're going to do our big trip next month, he's been anxious to take care of several of our home projects. I tried to convince him that we could wait, but I was overruled.
Guy got his car checked out in preparation for our trip. I cleaned house, watered and gardened. We checked out the drip and sprinkler system, and he replaced some of the faulty heads. He also checked all our outdoor lights, repositioned, and replaced those which were burned out.
Saturday, he had our garage door opener/mechanism replaced, and the old one moved to our second door, which was previously opened manually. This was more important to him than to me, but since this is a newer model, it's more secure and the keypad is technologically advanced!
His family came over and watched the work being done, then we had lunch here.
We also moved all the furniture out of the spare bedroom in the first step of our painting adventure! Tomorrow (Sunday), we'll wash the walls, then start prepping and taping. This is my first "real" painting experience. Our goal will be to do a little each day this week. I will try to take a few photos. The photo in this post is the room prior to moving out all the stuff. As you can see, it really needs to be painted! :)
*In case you aren't aware, the state of California is in a major budget crisis. We are required to take a total of 24 furlough days throughout the 2009-2010 fiscal year. It's about a 9-10% pay cut, and I'm hoping this is a one-year deal.
