This was an event to be experienced in a group setting! Postmaster sent out a notice that we could view the inauguration ceremonies in the student lounge. Before that, I watched the nbc feed from my computer. We got there just before Diane Feinstein started, and stayed through the National Anthem. I feel grateful that I was able to see it live - for some reason, that was important to me.
The room broke out in applause several times during the ceremonies, including Aretha Franklin's song and Reverend Lowery's speech. There were several students who also came in during Obama's speech, so I'm not sure if they wanted to be there, or if their professor had insisted on it, but no matter. I hope they will remember this day for the rest of their lives. We sure will.
