Monday - Words

Feeling pretty happy to be working these days. I am so fortunate to have my job.

Some of the perqs* are the environment:
1. I have an office.
2. I work on a campus with trees, grass, man-made lakes and birds (Canadian geese and other waterfowl).
3. We have a library, cafeteria and a bookstore right on campus. How convenient is that?

Will post a photo of campus once I remember to bring my camera to work.

Words of today:
perquisite - fringe benefit: an incidental benefit awarded for certain types of employment
in case you didn't know where "perks" (or is it "perqs") originated.

unctuous - I heard this on a Simply Ming episode (just watched for the first time tonight). I believe he was using the word in the following manner:
fatty, oily, smooth and greasy in texture or appearance
but I seem to recall a more negative definition from high school:
unpleasantly and excessively suave or ingratiating in manner or speech

-Well either way it's a fun word.
*shortened form of one of today's words
